Description: I have been dealing with Sterling Heights Dodge for 9 1/2 years. I have purchased/leased or have been directly responsible for 16 new vehicles during this time thru this dealership. Sterling Heights Dodge carries a 5 Star Rating. The purchase/lease function of this Dealership has been satisfactory, but there has been numerous problems with service (both warranty and cash) with several vehicles. On 5/13/99 I took my Dakota into service at 7AM. The "Check Engine" light was on and the transmission would not shift automatically. The trans would shift manually in all gears including lock-up mode. It was obvious this was an electronic control problem. I was told to leave it in the lot and they would look at it the first week in June. I calmly explained that this was not acceptable and asked to speak to the service manager. Neither the manager or service writer would discuss any other option. I could leave the vehicle or go away. Their "transmission shop" was backed up until June. I left the dealership with the "Check Engine" light on and a transmission that would not shift. I did get the Dakota fixed the same day by a private mechanic. The problem was a broken electronic sensor (trans overtemp/pressure sensor). Since the dealership knew this was not a warranty claim, they lost the dollar income for the repair. It is my firm belief that if their "transmission shop" was truely backed up until June, then additional resources and/or outside assistance should have been committed. Simply leaving a customers vehicle in the lot until next month before it can be (looked at) is not acceptable. This is hardly 5-Star customer care.
This is the last of many service problems.
In several cases service has been rude and/or stupid. I will not do business with this dealership again. Anyone considering using this dealership: B E W A R E!
