Description: Took '99 Dakota in for 3rd time for loud, constant knocking. Shop forman went for ride and heard it. At Chrysler reps' suggestion, dealer used cleaner and declared they could not hear any noise and insisted that it wasn't engine ping, but a problem with the valves that they wouldn't fix. I proved them wrong by using higher octane fuel, but they told me they would no longer attempt to fix the problem. I took it to another dealer, who said that it was, indeed, engine ping, but that there are currently no TSB's to fix it. My reason for the lowest rating is due to Fitzgerald's total lack of honesty and competence.
